All about Roman ChristianityRomans at first treated the Christians with cruelty, but later on adopted Christianity and it became the main religion and culture. It was said that Nero was the cruelest of the leaders to the Christians. He abused the Christians and even set fire to their houses and they themselves. Nero made sure that the Christians were rounded up and killed immediately. Some were torn apart by dogs and others were set on fire as human torches. The Christians were treated so terribly and were not welcomed by the the Romans. The Christians stayed strong and to themselves and later were acknowledged. This proves that Christians still believed in their culture despite the disapproving Romans. Christianity began to increase in numbers over the next 2 centuries. Many or all of the emperors after Constantine thought very highly of Christianity and they now punished people who didn’t adopt Christianity. Even though Christianity was now the main religion the Romans didn’t acknowledge the Christians at all because they didn’t want to show weakness and that the Christians who were so wrong before now won and got to worship their religion freely and everyone else worshiped their religion. Christianity also offered spiritual comfort and opened up a path for many jobs. In conclusion Christianity spread rapidly throughout the Roman empire and has remained a dominant religion for 1,000s of years.
